Wellness and Prevention

Wellness and Prevention at Capital University

Wellness and Prevention is a collaborative, campus-wide initiative led by the Office of Student and Community Engagement. It is responsible for providing education, resources, and programming on various topics related to your physical and mental health and overall well-being as a college student! To learn about our events and receive helpful tips and resources, follow us on Instagram @wellnessandprevention_cu!

Our mission: By focusing on wellness and prevention efforts that prioritize mental and physical health and safety, we strive to create a community where students and campus members can holistically thrive. Through education, inclusive programming, and collaboration with partners, we will create a supportive and healthy environment at Capital University.

Events

Wellness and Prevention partners with offices and organizations throughout campus to host various programming and events throughout the year. Topics include mental health, physical health, wellness and self-care, alcohol and other drug safety, sexual assault prevention, and more! Be sure to join us for our annual Turkey Trot for Wellness in November, the De-Stress Fest at the end of both Fall and Spring semesters, and our Sips and Safety event focused on alcohol safety in the Spring!

Peer Educators

New to the Capital community in the 2024 – 2025 academic year, Peer Educators are student leaders who prioritize the safety, physical and mental health, and well-being of themselves, fellow students, and the community. Through education, inclusive programming, and collaboration, Peer Educators will help create a supportive and healthy environment at Capital University where campus members can holistically thrive.

Peer Educators are trained and certified through NASPA’s Certified Peer Educator training. They receive additional training throughout the year and strengthen their leadership, communication, and collaboration skills. They are students JUST LIKE YOU who are here on campus to get to know you and connect you to resources! You’ll see them throughout the year, at their tabling events and programs sharing free and fun giveaways, resources, and beneficial information!
