Biography

Paula Federico is originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina and came to the U.S. in 2001 to pursue her Ph. D. She joined the faculty of the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics at Capital University in 2009.

Previously, Paula was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Tennessee Knoxville and the Mathematical Biosciences Institute at The Ohio State University. Her research interests are in the area of mathematical and computational ecology with applications to population dynamics, management and conservation of natural resources, epidemic/epizootic dynamics, and movement behavior.
Paula explains, "It is my goal to help students learn to think clearly, logically, and analytically; to understand the essence of the deductive method and mathematical proof. Mathematics is a required discipline for many students; it is my responsibility to help them understand the importance of mathematics in everyday life, arts, science, and technology. Applications aside, I want to help my students, especially math majors, to see the beauty in mathematics."
