Biography

Susan (Stein) Dowdy received her Bachelor of Music Education degree Summa Cum Laude from Capital University in 1976, with a major in voice and a minor in piano. She received her Master of Arts in Music Education from The Ohio State University in 1998.

She has taught choral and general music in Wynford Local Schools and Canal Winchester Local Schools; and retired from Gahanna Jefferson Public Schools where she taught elementary general music, high school music history and appreciation, high school musical theatre, and served as the accompanist for the choral and theatre programs.

Throughout her career she has accompanied vocalists and instrumentalists for Ohio Music Education Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Events, as well as Choral Sightreading at OMEA Large Group Adjudicated Events. Since her retirement from public school education she has served as a Music Education Supervisor for both Otterbein and Capital Universities, a staff accompanist at Otterbein, and an accompanist for Ballet Met Columbus.
