General Transfer Student Requirements

  • You will need a 2.5 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for all previous college work.
  • If you have fewer than 30 semester college credit hours, we’ll also use your high school information in making admission decisions.
  • You must also be in good academic and social standing at the last institution you attended.

Special Requirements for Transfer Students in Music or Nursing

  • Music — in most cases, music students must also complete an audition.
  • Nursing — nursing students are considered on a space-available basis but must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average and a 2.75 cumulative science grade point average.

Application Process

We accept students from all over the world to study at Capital. To apply to join our community, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to our application page and complete either our application or the Common Application.
  2. Submit the required documents. We cannot review your application until we receive all required documents.

Check your application status page to see the exact requirements for you.
    • You must have official transcripts sent to Capital University directly from all U.S. universities you have attended. Transcripts and test scores uploaded by you will be considered unofficial.
    • If you have completed university courses in any country other than the U.S., you must have a coursework evaluation done by WES, ECE, or SpanTran. More information is available on each company’s website.
    • If you have completed fewer than 30 credit hours at the university level, we will also need to review your high school transcript.
    • Refer to our Required Materials list for details.
  3. Receive your admission decision and scholarship offer. We review your application as soon as all required materials are received, so apply and submit your documents early!

Once you're accepted, we will review the official college transcripts for course equivalency.

  • A faculty advisor will determine how the courses apply to the degree, so you should contact the Admission office to schedule a meeting with a faculty advisor to find out how your major classes transfer and how long it will take to complete your degree.
  • We encourage you to review our transfer credit page to learn more about transferring your university credit to Capital.
