Meet Your CapFam is a new series for you to get to know Capital University faculty, staff and administrators. Pastor Andrew “Drew” Tucker serves Capital’s students, faculty and staff as University Pastor.
How many years have you been at Capital?
Since November 2017, so two years at the time of this publication.
What is your favorite place/building/room at Capital and why?
I love Christ the Teacher Courtyard in the back of Trinity Lutheran Seminary. It’s a serene setting for work, conversation, and rest.
What was a career-defining moment for you?
There’s a tie: I was invited as a guest preacher in Duke University Chapel for Ash Wednesday 2013, and I received the 2019 Hess-Pierson Award, given annually to a Lutheran Campus Ministry professional who shows exemplary dedication and service to Lutheran Student Movement-USA (LSM-USA).
Do you have a favorite comfort food or restaurant?
Buffalo wings!
What is your favorite TV show/movie?
Most anything science fiction or absurd comedy, so you’ll find watching the Star Trek reboots and reruns of Scrubs with great joy.
Do you have a favorite music genre or artist?
Pop-punk is my preferred genre. Motion City Soundtrack gets me most energized.
Do you have any pets?
Two dogs, Stanley and Jack, named after theologians. I’ll buy anyone who can guess which ones a free cup of coffee!
What inspires or motivates you?
Vulnerability, encouragement, and affirmation.
